Built by a school teacher who became a DevOps engineer

Learn DevOps by doing — built for career-changers and complete beginners.

CloudCaive teaches DevOps and AI operations — the work of keeping software running — through short daily drills, spaced repetition, and realistic incident simulations in your browser. Every answer gets a specific explanation, right or wrong. No tech background needed. An hour a day builds job-ready fundamentals in about 90 days.

How it works

One roadmap, one Lab —
here's how the pieces fit

The roadmap tells you what to learn and in what order. Labs is where you practise it, every day. That's the whole model — everything else supports those two.

01
Start with the free roadmap
Twelve weeks, week by week, all on one page — what a server is, the terminal, Git, containers, Kubernetes, incidents. Free to read, no email needed.
02
Practise daily in Labs
Short drills with spaced repetition — questions return when they're due for review, scheduled by how you're doing. Every answer, right or wrong, gets a specific written explanation.
03
Prove it under pressure
Terminal simulations of realistic incidents — the outage happens to you, safely in your browser. Placement exams start you at your true level and gate each tier on real mastery.
04
Go deeper when ready
Novice and Fundamentals are free forever. Core Pro unlocks the Junior-to-Senior tiers; the top of the ladder is marked coming soon. The rest of the ladder opens with Core Pro when you’re ready.

The career switch
👨‍🏫
2010 – 2018
London Secondary School Teacher
Science teacher in London. Bloom's Taxonomy wasn't a theory — it was a daily tool. Spaced repetition, scaffolded difficulty, psychological safety in the classroom.
📖
2018 – 2019
Self-taught DevOps Career Change
No CS degree. No bootcamp. Just a methodical, teacher's approach to learning Linux, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes — applied to himself.
⚙️
2019 – 2024
Senior DevOps Engineer
Delivered systems for UK national infrastructure — enterprise-grade, real production systems.
🚀
2024 – Present
Founder, CloudCaive
Built the platform that should have existed when he was making the switch. Now helping others compress the same journey.
Our story
"I was a science teacher in London. I had no CS degree, no connections in tech, and no idea that the skills I used every day in the classroom — breaking down complexity, sequencing learning, meeting people where they are — were exactly what DevOps learning was missing."

Naqeeb is a Senior DevOps Engineer and former science teacher from inner-city London. He combines real classroom pedagogy — spaced repetition, retrieval practice, scaffolded learning — with AI to change how DevOps is taught, drawing on experience delivering systems for UK national infrastructure.

CloudCaive is the platform I wish had existed. Every curriculum decision is informed by cognitive science. Every question is written to a published style guide — reading level, honest feedback on every choice — and passes automated checks before it ships.

The Tier Ladder

Eight tiers, one ladder —
from Novice to Principal

Each tier is an ordered pathway in Labs: drills with spaced repetition, a terminal sim mission, and a mastery gate — pass it and the next tier opens. The names describe the difficulty of the scenarios — the decisions engineers face at different levels — not job titles, and not a seniority promise. The first five tiers are fully curated today; Lead, Staff and Principal are marked coming soon. Simulations run safely in your browser; from Senior tier there are also optional labs you run on your own machine with Docker or a local Kubernetes cluster — real tools, your hardware, no cloud account needed.

Start here with no experience at all. What a server actually is, your first terminal moments, Linux, Git, and your first containers — every term defined the first time it appears.

Quality Standards

A published quality bar.
Checks that actually run.

The style guide and the validators are part of the product. Every question passes both before it ships — you can hold us to the rules because they're written down.

Retrieval practice, not video binging
You learn by answering, not watching. Short drills pull knowledge out of your head — the thing that actually builds memory — and each tier's mastery gate opens the next.
Spaced repetition, built in
Every question you answer is scheduled for review at growing intervals — it comes back when it's due, so knowledge compounds rather than decays.
Feedback is the product
Every choice — right or wrong — carries authored feedback: it names the specific misconception, corrects the mental model, and points forward. Wrong answers teach; they never shame.
The checks every question passes
Automated validation on every change
Every question pack runs through structural validators in the release pipeline. Broken content can't ship.
Assessment-bias linting
A linter flags questions whose correct answer's length telegraphs it, and answer order is shuffled on every attempt — drills measure knowledge, not test-taking tricks.
A written style guide, applied to every line
Reading level per tier, jargon defined at first use for beginners, honest-motivation rules — no fake scarcity, no loss-framed streaks, no shame mechanics.
Learner feedback on every question
Each drill carries a built-in rate-this-question control. Flagged content gets rewritten — the feedback loop is part of the product.
Simulations, honestly labelled
Sim missions run safely in your browser — realistic, not "real cloud". The own-machine labs at Senior+ use actual Docker and Kubernetes on your hardware, and we tell you which is which.
FAQ

Honest answers to the questions
career-changers actually ask

Can I learn DevOps with no tech experience?
Yes — that's exactly who CloudCaive is built for. The Novice tier assumes nothing: every term is defined the first time it appears, and your first real terminal moment happens in week one. You'll need consistency (an hour a day) far more than you'll need any background.
Do I need a computer science degree?
No. The founder made this exact switch without one. The curriculum is built explicitly for people coming from non-technical backgrounds. If you can follow instructions and commit time, you can do this.
How long will it realistically take to get job-ready?
The 90-Day Activation plan is the honest answer — for a junior role. With 1–2 hours per day consistently. For a mid-level role, plan 6–12 months. We'll never oversell this. The outcome matters more than the enrolment.
Is this UK-only or does it cover the US market too?
Both. The skills themselves — Linux, containers, Kubernetes, cloud fundamentals — are the same in every market, and examples use both £ and $. The founder's experience is UK-based; the curriculum isn't UK-bound.
How is CloudCaive different from A Cloud Guru or Linux Foundation?
Those platforms are excellent for certification prep. CloudCaive is built for career-changers: retrieval practice and spaced repetition instead of a video library, authored feedback on every answer, and a founder who made this exact switch himself.
Can I cancel Core Pro at any time?
Yes. Month-to-month, no contracts, no exit fees. We'd rather you come back when the time is right than feel locked in.
Is the Agentic AI content actually current?
The space moves fast and we don't pretend otherwise. Content is updated as the tools shift, and every question carries a feedback control — anything stale gets flagged by learners and rewritten. No grand audit promises; a working feedback loop instead.
Is DevOps still worth learning now AI writes code?
More than ever. AI writing code means more software shipping faster — and every line of it still needs someone who can run, supervise and debug the systems it lands on. That operations layer, including running the AI agents themselves, is exactly what CloudCaive teaches.
